I recently felt an urge to revisit some unfinished

I recently felt an urge to revisit some unfinished works I had lying around my studio for some time.

The painting you see in this video started off entirely different and has even been exhibited (you wouldn't recognise it now), but it never felt finished.🙈

Some paintings take months to be complete, and I've learned that this process can't be rushed.

So, you get to witness a part of the process - adding & taking away again, layer by layer.

Art and healing👇

I swear art is the best mirror I have ever looked into.

It forces me to fall apart and recreate myself over and over. I can not count the times I thought,'yep, this is it, this is me', only to be thrown into the turmoil of unknown once again.

Recently making art has been so painful, frustrating, and exhausting I even contemplated if it's even still my path.

When the old no longer works, but the new isn't quite here yet, it's painful just to be alive.

But I came to realise that when I let it, art helps - nay, forces - me to shed all the skin I've outgrown and rediscover myself in the chaos once again.

So, for me, more than anything, art IS healing. 🤍
