Blanka Morikawa (b. 1988) is an abstract painter based in Prague, Czech Republic. She’s been creating for about 4 years now and is proud and blessed to have her art in private collections in Czech Republic, as well as other parts of the world.
In her practice Morikawa uses acrylic paint and charcoal to explore the essence of life—what remains when all of our fears, trauma and barriers are relinquished. Intuition and freedom are important topics in Morikawa’s art practice, as well as personal life. Her expressive style is a result of surrendering all control over the process and freeing herself from any form of expectation or judgement.
Morikawa’s need for simplicity and naturalness is evident in her use of raw canvas and natural colour palettes. Her gestural marks are typically combined with watery base layer, creating multi-layered yet minimal and airy works.
