Blanka Morikawa (b. 1988) is a Czech abstract painter based in Prague. Her work delves into the essential nature of being—what is revealed when fear, trauma, and internal barriers are stripped away. Guided by intuition and a philosophy of radical freedom, Morikawa approaches painting as an act of surrender, releasing control, expectation, and judgment in favor of authenticity and presence.
Working primarily with acrylic and charcoal on raw canvas, Morikawa’s minimal compositions are distinguished by soft pastel palettes and the spontaneous inclusion of naive drawings and handwritten text. These elements reflect her unfiltered inner world, capturing fleeting thoughts and impulses with playful honesty. Each painting functions as a diary entry—an invitation to witness the raw immediacy of emotion and thought.
Morikawa’s work has attracted a growing audience and is held in private collections both in the Czech Republic and internationally.
